Onyx And Its Magical Properties

Black Onyx is a stone of mystery to me. It's dark color is unique and just as precious as any other stone. Its properties are just as amazing and just as useful. Onyx was used often among the ancient Greeks and the Romans, it was actually very popular with them as it very well should have been. It should actually still be popular today. It may be black and some may not be able to see the beauty behind the dark color but I can. This is why I wear an onyx ring on my finger at all times.

Onyx can be a powerful stone however its power develops slowly so therefore it must be worn or laid directly on the body in some way or form for sometime in order to allow the power to form. This stone is great with skin ailments. It can also come to the aid of healing infected wounds and even fungal infections. It can also help one with sunburn and inflammation.

With sun burn if you pat the affected skin with onyx water several times through out the day and use an onyx water compress during the night it will help, including with inflammation.

Onyx is a stone of the element fire and the Deity of Mars. The keyword powers that should be known for this stone include protection, defensive magic, and reducing sexual desires.

In ancient times lore tells us that onyx was thought to be a manifestation of a demon imprisoned in the stone. It is said that this demon would wake up in the night and cause nightmares and terror to any person that it can influence.

Onyx for many years has been used to protect against black magic as well defensive magic when you believe that negativity is directed towards you.

This black stone can also help someone gain emotional balance and self-control. It is a powerful stone to be used in divination rituals.

Astrology associations are Saturn and Earth. It is also a stone of Capricorn, known as a positive stone. As well as a Leo stone. It is actually said to dream of this stone is to mean a happy life with a great companion.

Crystals are often used in Chakras as well. With Onyx it is mostly used with the Root Chakra. It is said to help with problems in life, especially with a drainage of energy. It may be used to prevent the draining away of personal energy and protect even against it.

While Black and Red Onyx are often used for the Root Chakra, White Onyx is associated with both the Root Chakra and the Crown Chakra, providing a balance through out all of the Chakras. It is an excellent stone for centering and aligning your full being with higher powers.

The best known color of Onyx is black. When I first came to research gemstones I believed that Black Onyx was the only form however I was wrong. Onyx comes in different colors. Red, black, White. A various of colors is offered to us. However, I still personally prefer the black colored stone. I think it will always be my favorite colored onyx.

I wear a black onyx ring. Not for any magical purposes but because I really like the stone. Sadly I do not have one in my collection, which I do hope to change. Onyx to me, is a mystery. Beautiful and full of mysteries that we will have to solve. Maybe this stone has properties that are yet to be discovered? We will see.
