I Am Woman - A Poem
64
I am Women
I am more than what you see,
I am more than what you say I am.
I may be of flesh. I may seem to cower before you
But I am not weak, I am not lower than you.
I am women.
I go through hardships like you
I have experiences I have survived that you wouldn't even know,
Hardships you wouldn't even possibly think of.
I have daily battles with in my mind
And all of this experienced at a young age.
I am more than what you see.
I may have curves,
Body parts that are not of yours.
But I am not weak, I am not lower than you.
I am women.
I stand like that of an ancient tree of lore,
With roots in the ground not willing to give up yet,
Not willing to waste life away.
Your mouth speaks bile, words of acid
And you pump your body with things, slowly
Ever so slowly...
Killing it off.
And you dare speak down to me because of what I am...
No I am women.
My roots are strong and though days get tough,
Though I feel like giving up at times of trouble,
I never do. I make it through the day.
For I am women.
